In the middle of the Limburg hilly country, in the neighbourhood of Vineyard Fromberg and Castle Valkenburg, you can find De Leuf. This hotel-restaurant is located in a monumental farmstead from 1759 with elements as old as the hills. The characteristic hotel rooms have been designed to be modern and light, but with an entirely authentic style due to the low, beam ceilings.
The farmstead also displays an extensive present-day art collection. In the star restaurant with its young talent, you can enjoy the traditional French kitchen. Innovation and perfection comes first, so many a guest has been challenged to participate in cooking demonstrations, workshops and various taste tests. Master Sommelier Bas Ritrae has developed great wine and food pairings. On the patio, which is covered with a roof of plane tree leaves, you can enjoy lunch or dinner in peace and quiet when the weather is nice. The surroundings are wonderful for walks, bicycle trips (for the more seasoned biker) or picnics. Upon request a well-filled picnic basket will be prepared for you.
The menu is French-traditional. The chef’s motto is: to innovate every day and to perfect what was realized the day before. The restaurant’s interior is modern but in harmony with the old farmhouse’s century old features.
The restaurant is opened Tuesday through Saturday.
The hotel a front garden. The terrace in the walled in courtyard seats 28 persons. The tablecloths are linnen and big parasols provide shade as do the plane-trees. On warm summer days lunch and dinner are served here.
In the cooking studio you can participate in cooking demonstrations, workshops and various wine-food and themed taste tests. Cookery classes for groups and picnic baskets on request. Many footpaths in the neighbourhood.
De Leuf Hotel lies in the middle of the hilly Limburg landscape which in itself is enticing for long walks or bicycle trips (for the more experienced cyclist). In the neighbourhood you will find the Fromberg Vineyard (the local wine producer), Valkenburg Castle, Carolus Spa (Aachen, Germany), SnowWorld, Mondo Verde (Landgraaf, gardens with an international theme) and Holland Casino (Valkenburg).
