Bustling hotel in an old brewery

Beer is the main theme in this hotel in the centre of Moorsel. A couple of years ago the owner, Pieter van der Borght, renovated Brewery De Valck and converted it into a hotel/restaurant. The building, dating from 1884, is now home to the good life. You’ll find charming rooms, an interior featuring original masonry and old oak trusses in the restaurant.

The chef cooks with the seasons and holds the local farmers in high esteem. They supply seasonal delicacies which inspire the chef to create the best Moorsel has to offer: excellent dining in the restaurant or enjoying Belgian dark ale at the bar.

Get out there, jump on a bicycle or trundle along by car. The breweries in the region are waiting to be discovered by beer lovers. Not a beer lover? The hotel is in the middle of the Brussels- Antwerp- Ghent Triangle so therefore the ideal base for a triple city trip.

The tables in the restaurant are conventionally dressed with crisp white linen, white china and polished glass. Chef Giovanni de Boeck creates contemporary dishes, always based on tradition. The chef sources mainly local produce from farms in the area. He calls his seasonal dishes lovingly his ‘seasonal delicacies’. In the evening, gourmet menus are served of six and eight courses. In game season, game is on the menu. The classic wine list offers exquisite wines.

The hotel’s friendly bar in the basement with cosy seats by the open fire place, serves real Belgian tapas. Weather permitting, lunch and dinner are served on the terrace.
