Three generations of hospitality

The culinary domain of the Pankert family is in a place where stagecoach horses were once cared for and changed. It is in the centre of the historically located St. Vith, which is in Belgium but also borders Germany and Luxembourg. A crossing of thoroughfares, ideal for travellers who want to dine and sleep well. For this is a great place.

The cuisine of the third generation of the Pankert family is widely acclaimed. Eric Pankert interprets the French kitchen in his own modern way. His wine knowledge and extensive collection of wines are both special. There is a beautiful proverb attributed to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe on the menu: ‘Life is too short to drink bad wine’.

The guest rooms each have their own style; all furnished with the family’s personal touch. The expansive countryside of the Ardennes and the Eifel, invites you to take long walks. St. Vith has many bike lanes using disused railway routes, meandering through three countries.

Chef Eric Pankert, Chef in restaurant Zur Post, one Michelin Star, mainly uses local produce such as game or herbs from his own herb garden. The menu offers classic French cuisine with steak tartare, coq au vin and lobster. Chef Eric Pankert has a lot of international experience in the kitchen. He worked in Ghent, Dusseldorf, in Paris at Restaurant Jamin (known because of French TV chef Joël Rubuchon) and in New York at Les Célibrités.

Garden & Terrace

The sheltered terrace of Zur Post is an integral part of the stylish garden. If the sun gets too strong, the large white parasols provide pleasant shade. The garden and the charming terrace with wooden elements are harmoniously combined through the use of colourful planting against closely clipped topiaries and hedges. On sunny days this is a delightful place to have lunch, drink a good glass of wine or enjoy a wonderful dinner.

Sankt Vith lies in the German speaking part of Belgium. The town is located between the Eiffel region and the Ardennes. The beautiful countryside with forests and lakes offers many opportunities for an active holiday. There is a choice of activities such as walking, cycling or playing golf. Sankt Vith is one of Belgium’s prettiest winter sport areas. In the winter you can go skiing or cross-country skiing. The city of Spa is well worth a visit as is the racing track of Spa-Francorchamps. In nearby Stavelot you will find the racetrack museum.
