Jeunes Restaurateur Peter A. Strauss is an acclaimed chef who has won many culinary prizes. In the cosmopolitan town of Oberstdorf he has created Löwen & Strauss, a contemporary hotel and restaurant, with a modern ambience. A welcoming place for both young and old, holiday-maker or local resident. There are two restaurants. Ess Atelier Strauss is the Michelin-starred restaurant, with an exquisite menu, a wine cabinet of no less than 18 m2 and a large window allowing a view of the kitchen. Löwenwirtschaft is a trendy brasserie in the Bavarian Alps. The large extended table, which can seat up to 20 people, is the centre of this intimate restaurant. Both restaurants use regional products, each in their own way.
The hotel rooms and suites are all unique, with design furniture and decorated with materials from the Tirol Living Collection. Start the day with a delicious “Alpine” breakfast. In the wellness-oasis Casa Alp, with panorama sauna and tepidarium, you can finally relax at the end of a day filled with sports activities.
Alpin Lifestyle Hotel Löwen & Strauss caters for all tastes and offers an extensive menu. There are two restaurants to choose from and if you are fan of cooking, you will find the cookery school irresistible. Michelin awarded Ess Atelier Strauss with one Michelin Star. The restaurant offers the ultimate in crisp Alpine architecture without losing the essence of warm hospitality, so typical for the region. The huge climatised wine cabinet, home to more than 300 different wines, takes up one the restaurant’s walls. Chef Peter Strauss is renowned for his classic dishes with a creative, personal twist, always sourcing produce from exceptional local suppliers. The menu changes with the seasons.
After a full day’s skiing, hiking or shopping, why not join the 6 metre long communal table in the middle of Restaurant Löwenwirtschaft. The contemporary and nostalgic atmosphere in the restaurant is enhanced by the cow bells hanging from the ceiling and the large framed black and white photographs of the surrounding countryside and its inhabitants. Enjoy the traditional flavours of the regional Allgäu cuisine and if the weather is good, have a relaxing glass of wine or a good cup of coffee on the terrace.
