Castle Burg Schnellenberg towers impressively over the hanseatic city of Attendorn. It is surrounded by 240 hectares of woodland and meadow. The history of the castle dates to 1222. Nowadays it is one of the best maintained castles in Westphalia. The stylish hotel receives its guests with warm hospitality in fairy tale surroundings. The welcome is in accordance with the Latin proverb over the door ‘stranger, don’t stay outside, my door is open to the traveller’. The classically designed guest rooms have beautiful views.

Elegant cross-vaulted ceilings adorn the dining area where long ago the castle’s knights sat down for their meals. The inner courtyard terrace is also a romantic location for your dinner. Chef Christian Kipper’s excellent cuisine offers a wonderful variety of dishes. You can choose a wine to complement your food from the well-stocked wine cellar.

The cosy bar is located in one of the castle’s basements, a vault carried by four pillars. Enjoy the murals with a good glass of wine in your hand.

The grounds of the castle comprise almost 600 acres of woodlands and meadows. The orchard and ornamental pond are at the rear of the castle, as is the extensive lawn.
The main terrace in located in the inner courtyard between the castle and the annexes and offers wonderful views over Attendorn and the surrounding countryside.
The region boasts wonderful landscapes, such as the river Bigge meandering through the Attendorn Valley and ending in the Bigge Lake, but there is more. Attendorn has several interesting museums, a wildlife park and one of the largest cave systems in Germany of which the Atta-Höhle is most famous. Orchid lovers will want to visit the local Orchid Farm. It goes without saying that the most wonderful walks and bicycle rides can be found in this part of Sauerland.
