In Maastricht city centre, in the former Kruisheren monastery, you will find the Kruisherenhotel Maastricht. A unique place uniting ancient history and design. The comfortable and contemporary rooms are in the 15th century monastery, the gatekeeper’s house and adjacent Casa Nova. The reception, boardrooms, a library and wine bar with ‘aboveground wine cellar’ are situated in the monumental gothic church of the monastery.
The modern interior is designed by interior architect Henk Vos and the German lighting artist Ingo Maurer. Every morning, noon and evening you can enjoy various culinary surprises with accompanying wines in the nave of the church, on the mezzanine. Between the stained-glass windows, the historic ceiling and magnificent murals you can really imagine being between heaven and earth.
Would you like to hold on to that feeling? Then spoil yourself with a Spa & Wellness treatment in nearby St. Gerlach. A private shuttle service will take you there and back.
Like breakfast, lunch and dinner are also served in the mezzanine, from where you can enjoy the historical murals and ceiling paintings, enhanced by the church’s beautiful stained glass windows. Contemporary light features seem to float in the air, creating an ethereal atmosphere. The chef offers you a menu full of culinary surprises, while an extensive range of wines is available to complement your meal.
In the church’s former choir you will find the wine bar with its remarkable ‘wine cellar’. The many wine bottles are stored and displayed in a stunning glass vault. The Wine bar Rouge & Blanc is open to everyone. The red couches are an invitation in themselves to sit and enjoy a good glass of wine or a cup of coffee with a slice of the local fruit pie.
The restaurant is opened Sunday through Friday from 12.00h until 15.00h and from 18.00h until 21.30h. On Saturday from 12.00h until 21.30h.
The Kruisherenhotel has a lovely intimate monastery garden. The hotel’s terrace is the ideal place to relax after a day in the city, to enjoy lunch or dinner, or just a glass of wine sitting in the evening sun.
Maastricht, an old city full of history, but also with lots of hip and trendy shops and lively terraces, is right on the hotel’s doorstep.
