The smallest castle in the Netherlands, Kasteeltje Hattem, nestles in Roermond city park. Surrounded by trees and greenery, complete with a moat and pond, this authentic castle now is a little paradise for connoisseurs.
The former coach houses have been converted into comfortable hotel suites, spacious and light in colour with crisp interiors. The stylish restaurant is in the castle, open for lunch and dinner, featuring a gastronomic à la carte menu as well as a smaller lunch menu. In fine weather relax on the sunny terrace. The restaurant and the hotel are closed on Sundays after breakfast.
The lakes in the area offer beautiful scenery for those who love watersports and nature. Take a walk in the city park or take the bicycle, go sailing on the Maasplassen, hit a golf ball on the nearby course and shop in the charming old town centre or at the Designer Outlet in Roermond.
The stylish restaurant offers lunch and dinner. The high ceiling and the large windows create an atmosphere full of air and light. The restaurant overlooks the park. The cuisine is French with a Mediterranean twist. The menu changes every two months with the seasons. Weather permitting, lunch and dinner are served on the covered and heated terrace.
The pleasant upstairs restaurant is the perfect place for meetings, presentations or private dinners for up to 7 persons. Four course menu or à la carte dining available.
The hotel’s cosy bar is also the location of food and wine tasting sessions. Its interior is contemporary modern, but also welcoming with comfortable armchairs, charcoal grey window frames and a red wall behind the antique bar. The bar’s design is a mixture of neogothic, hip and classic, but merges in harmony wiht the seating area and creates a wonderful ambience. A small lunch, just a cup of tea or a glass of wine can be enjoyed here. Weather permitting, the sunny terrace just outside is ideal to relax.
The restaurant is opened Monday through Saturday. Lunch is served from 12.00h. Diner is served from 18.00h.
The garden is laid out in landscape style along geometrical lines with many mature trees, in perfect harmony with the adjacent park. At night, the garden lights create a wonderful atmosphere. The terrace is situated beside the castle. Mature trees, like the Plane tree dating from 1810 and the Sequoia dating from 1890, provide the terrace with shelter. The terrace is covered and heated, thus extending the season.
Close to the hotel, you will find the Dutch National Indonesian Monument and the NATO Peace Mission Monument. Roermond city centre, with its many old churches and cathedrals, is within easy walking distance. Nearby, the Roermond Outlet Shopping Centre provides even more shopping entertainment. Maastricht is only 30 minutes by car, Belgium and Germany are also within easy reach.
