Nestled in the Limburg hills, near the Fromberg Vineyard and Castle Valkenburg, you will find Hotel De Leuf. The hotel-restaurant is in a monumental farmstead from 1759 with historical details. The unique guest rooms have been designed to be contemporary and bright, but in delightful authentic style owing to the exposed ceiling beams.
The farmstead also houses an extensive modern art collection. In the star restaurant young talents cook traditional French cuisine. Innovation and perfection come first, but guests are also challenged to participate in cooking demonstrations, workshops and various tastings. Master Sommelier Bas Ritrae has developed incredible wine and food pairings. In fine weather you can enjoy lunch or dinner on the peaceful patio, which is covered with a roof of plane tree leaves. The surroundings are ideally suited for walks, picnics or bicycle trips for the more seasoned cyclist.
The menu is French-traditional. The chef’s motto is: to innovate every day and to perfect what was realized the day before. The restaurant’s interior is modern but in harmony with the old farmhouse’s century old features.
The restaurant is opened Tuesday through Saturday.
The hotel a front garden. The terrace in the walled in courtyard seats 28 persons. The tablecloths are linnen and big parasols provide shade as do the plane-trees. On warm summer days lunch and dinner are served here.
In the cooking studio you can participate in cooking demonstrations, workshops and various wine-food and themed taste tests. Cookery classes for groups and picnic baskets on request. Many footpaths in the neighbourhood.
De Leuf Hotel lies in the middle of the hilly Limburg landscape which in itself is enticing for long walks or bicycle trips (for the more experienced cyclist). In the neighbourhood you will find the Fromberg Vineyard (the local wine producer), Valkenburg Castle, Carolus Spa (Aachen, Germany), SnowWorld, Mondo Verde (Landgraaf, gardens with an international theme) and Holland Casino (Valkenburg).
