Once part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the old fort has been transformed into an eco-chic resort, Fort Resort Beemster. Blending heritage with contemporary design, the former military building is now an oasis of hospitality and serenity.

Chef Paul de Graaf sources only the best ingredients mainly from local producers. The Beemster region is well known for its craftsmanship in producing good quality food, where time and love are important ingredients. The wine list offers more than 40 different excellent wines. The friendly staff is only too willing to help you choose the right wine to accompany your meal.
Fort Resort Beemster’s second restaurant, the Wellness Restaurant, provides healthy light dishes and refreshing smoothies. Cosy seats and comfortable lounging couches are strategically placed throughout the restaurant’s bright interior.
The welcoming bar is centrally located in the restaurant. The bar is open from 11.00h until 23.00h.
Restaurant Poterne is opened daily from 11.00h until 23.00h.
The hotel’s garden is part of the wellness experience. It features an extensive lawn, infinity pool, salt water pool and cool pool. Furthermore you will find a rock salt sauna with Himalayan salt rock and an authentic Finnish Kelo-sauna.
On sunny days, the terrace is an ideal place to relax, also for children.
The Beemster polder is a typical Dutch polder landscape, recorded on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The region with its many distinct picturesque Dutch farm houses is just waiting to be explored by foot or by bicycle. Nature Park Eilandspolder is nearby and well worth visiting. The park of almost 5,000 acres consists for more than ¼ of water, so renting a canoe or an electric boat is a good way to get around and visit the many nearby historic towns, for example Noordeinde, Grootschermer or Schermerhorn. Not far from the hotel you will find the famous fishing villages of Volendam and Edam. The cities of Alkmaar, Purmerend and Amsterdam are also well within reach.
